Irish Moss has a natural deep crimson colour. However, if it has been dried outdoors it can become sun bleached and take on a blonde colour. Our latest batch has been dried indoors to ensure its quality and therefore is a deep red.
Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus) is also a plentiful source of fibre, vitamin K, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and many other nutrients (this can vary depending on seasonality).
The human body is made up of 102 minerals and Irish Moss contains a whopping 92 of them. It also provides a wealth of other important nutrients including; protein, beta-carotene, B vitamins, pectin, vitamin C and sulphur.
